The adoption and implementation of international standards, codes and best practices is a dynamic approach to studying potential risks. These standards, codes and practices, which are fully in line with the Group’s strategic goals, are committed to implementing, diffusing and integrating them into all of our operations and policies.
Indicatively, these standards and codes include:
Mandatory commitments:
- ETS (EU ETS) (Protocol of Kyoto, 1997 – in force since 2005), only to the Group’s refineries in Greece
Voluntary initiatives:
- ’SustainableGreece2020’’ Initiative – Charter for Sustainable Greece Signed on 29.04.2014 (more details)
The initiative (which is under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Development & Competitiveness as well as the Greek Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change) was developed with the cooperation of 33 Business Associations, 120 Companies, 17 Local Authorities and 43 Organizations. It is furthermore endorsed by International Organizations such as the European Commission, the German Sustainability Council, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and the EIRIS.
The Group participates in the Initiative as a SUSTAINABILITY AMBASSADOR (more details).
The participation in the initiative includes the adoption of the Greek Sustainability Code, as well as the promotion of good sustainable development practices in observing Sustainability.
- Global Reporting Initiative (GRI Standards) as well as the specific Oil & Gas Sector Supplement. Adopted by the Group in 2008.
- United Nations’ Global Compact (UNGC) principles & criteria. Adopted by the Group in 2007.
OKTA
As a non-binding initiative OKTA Lab is accredited according to ISO/IEC 17025, in North Macedonia, since 19.05.2006. The Lab issues Quality Certificates and test reports for all OKTA`s sold and stored products, as well as for requests from external companies and governmental institutions in the country and the region.
OKTA has division authorized by the Bureau for metrology in North Macedonia, since 31.10.2006, as non – binding initiative. The division performs services for verification of flow measuring systems for liquids other than water. In addition, it provides services for maintenance and verification of fuel dispenser and truck flow loading measuring systems of OKTA and dispensers of other petrol stations.
In 2018 external visit for recertification of the Integrated Management System (ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and BS 18001) was conducted.
